The Tale of the Three (Fashion) Queens

It was not just Irish pubs flocked by St. Patrick’s Day revelers that made headlines over the weekend. Three women were also talk, not just of the town, but probably of the entire world as well.

HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

She hardly gets out without being talked about. In fact, there probably has never been an outing that that did not make it to the news. Whether she is with her husband or venturing on her own, Kate Middleton always gets followed, her every move watched. But the future queen seems to be handling all the attention gracefully and graciously, acting every bit a royal and looking every bit a princess. Over the weekend, she proved, once again, why the cameras just couldn’t get enough of her.

She steps out wearing an Emilia Wickstead emerald dress coat to take part in a St. Patrick’s Day Parade by the 1st Batallion Irish Guards. Although this was the same dress she wore to the same event last year, Kate made sure to style her look differently. This time, she pulled up her locks to an elaborate updo and used the black James Lock hat which she wore at the start of the Queen’s Jubilee Tour last year. She also wore a black turtleneck and black tights underneath the coat this time. Black gloves and black four-inch heels completed her look.

US First Lady Michelle Obama

After first appearing on the cover of Vogue around this time three years ago, the FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States) makes her second appearance in the fashion glossy, wearing a blue and purple sheath dress by designer Reed Krakoff.

The cover not only featured Michelle Obama’s second term signature look – her bangs, but also her toned arms. But beyond the fab ‘do and the fit body, the magazine sets out to  highlight how the first lady has, in the words of the President himself, “…upgraded me” by being more than just a wife to him, but someone part of his team, soemone who tells him the truth as it is, someone who teaches him inasmuch as he teaches her, and most of all, someone who strives to give his daughters a well-rounded upbringing inspite of their not-so ordinary circumstance.

Katie Holmes

She may not be a duchess nor a first lady, but Katie Holmes is definitely a style royalty. Propelled to stardom by her role on Dawson’s Creek as Joey Potter, Katie Holmes has gone on to become a movie star, a theater actress, a fashion designer, and the face of several campaigns including that of the high-end fashion line, Miu Miu.

Over the weekend, photos of her posing for a jewelry ad were released, and it sent tongues a-wagging, in a good way, of course. The photos are from the campaign for H. Stern’s Iris collection, a high-end Brazilian jewelry chain. It’s safe to say though that people are paying very little to no  attention to the expensive jewelry that Katie is donning on each photo. If they are anything like us here in Coco, then they are transfixed to the smoking hot model of this campaign and nothing else.
